This course will assist small water systems in British Columbia in developing an Emergency Response & Contingency Plan (ERCP). Knowing what to do, who to contact, and how to communicate helps to prevent unnecessary complications that can prolong outages, create additional expenses and lead to illnesses. Developing an ERCP will provide you with a well thought out set of procedures to follow in the event of an emergency or Abnormal Operational Circumstance (AOC). Identifying corrective actions and procedures will help you to respond quickly to a drinking water emergency.
The goal of this course is to guide you through the process of developing a draft ERCP that satisfies the requirements of the BC DWPA.

- What is emergency management and how does it fit in the Multi-Barrier Approach (MBA).
- What are drinking water Emergencies and AOCs?
- What is an ERCP and why is it important for water suppliers?
- How to assess risks & vulnerabilities in your system.
